We conducted user research and data analysis for the Buy BC team, driving the redesign of their marketing website. Applying our UI design expertise, we optimized the user experience, effectively showcasing the diversity of British Columbia’s local food and beverages, in alignment with Buy BC’s mission to support farmers and local businesses across the province.
Navigating the complexities of diverse target audiences poses a primary challenge that the Buy BC team aimed to tackle. Redefining the type and breadth of content on the website, increasing traffic and return rates, and transforming the site into a more interactive experience by addressing the current lack of tools and infrastructure for user engagement and feedback.
Pixel Ramen collaborated with the Buy BC team to redesign their website, focusing on creating a user-centred experience that complies with government accessibility standards. This required a concise and intentional approach to information architecture to seamlessly communicate information to end users.
Harnessing the outcomes of 20 user interviews, our collaboration with the Buy BC team focused on achieving both depth and efficiency. Collaborating with the Buy BC team, we jointly formulated a hypothesis to identify research pain points and goals. This strategic alignment guided our investigative approach, enhancing the efficiency and precision of our research efforts. This, in turn, laid the groundwork for the website's redesign process, addressing identified challenges and aligning with user needs.
By leveraging the data collected from the user interviews, we were able to identify key pain points and opportunities for improvement on the Buy BC website. This data-driven approach allowed our team to prioritize features and functionalities that directly addressed user needs and preferences.
The insights gained from our research informed the design of intuitive navigation paths and clear content presentation, ensuring that users could easily find and access the information they sought. The emphasis on leveraging user data not only enhanced the overall usability of the website but also strengthened the connection between consumers and local producers, ultimately supporting the mission of the Buy BC program.
Our prototyped solution proved highly effective by substantially reducing the workload for Data Architects. It streamlined data-related processes, guaranteeing the availability of reference data across various NRM applications while effectively preventing data duplication.
